Strategic Sales Consultant
Job Description
The Strategic Sales Consultant is responsible for partnering with marketing and Student Services in driving revenue growth from inbound client inquiries as well as conducting outbound prospecting activities to secure new client agreements. The Strategic Sales Consultant generates and/or qualifies new business opportunities and must be able to communicate Kaplan North America’s breadth of products, solutions, and initiatives.
This individual will create plans and execute strategies to proactively target client segments to generate partnership opportunities (outbound) as well as act as the first point of contact within sales for new inquiries generated from marketing activity or calls to our Student Services team which warrant sales engagement. Additionally, the Strategic Sales Consultant must keep up to date account information utilizing the CRM to manage activity, opportunities, and sales forecasting to the Manager, Inside Sales.
Primary Responsibilities:

Deliver on financial objectives, including goal attainment and expense management, and follow the Kaplan Sales Process to maximize growth potential.

Create and execute a sales plan and process to grow both exams and beyond exam base revenues through inbound and outbound activities. Responsible for contacting inbound leads that come in through other departments, as well as outbound prospecting.

Execute strategic initiatives at the customer level as outlined by product, marketing, and sales leadership to develop new business opportunities.

Initiate, build, and grow new customer relationships.

Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with Kaplan Professional resources to achieve financial results.

Create an indispensable experience for assigned clients by understanding when to involve Segment Sales Directors (SSDs) for more specific product expertise, guide the customer through the sales process, and involving Client Success Managers (CSM) or Client Success Specialists (CSS) for day to day servicing of the account.

Maintain and communicate accurate reporting, records, and information of customers, opportunities, and activity within CRM.

Adhere to Strategic Sales Consultant role activities and expectations as outlined by the Manager, Inside Sales including but not limited to: customer contact, working in collaboration with Segment Sales Directors (SSDs), Product, Marketing, etc,

Ability and willingness to travel infrequently (less than 10%) for team meetings and other training or networking events. Travel may require an airplane and overnight stays.

Minimum Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience.
-
Some sales experience in professional services, account management, or business to business (B2B) sales.
-
Proficient in using MS Office.
-
Prior experience using CRM solutions.
-
Financial and business acumen.
-
Well-developed probing and listening skills, to be able to uncover and understand client’s issues, challenges, and needs.
-
Ability to manage and overcome client objections and concerns.
-
Ability to persuade and communicate effectively over the phone and use technology to progress the sales cycle.
-
Proven experience prospecting for new business relationships.
-
High energy and self-motivated, with the ability to work in a complex environment that frequently changes.
-
Strong comfort level working in a sales environment.
-
The ability to work independently and self-sufficiently.
-
Problem-solving focus.
-
Resiliency and ability to constructively handle frequent prospective client dismissals.
